road trip

I got a drivers license this year. My first. After a decade in New York City and five years of walking in Seattle (is there life beyond Capitol Hill?), I’d started to think I might dodge that passage into proper adulthood that comes from piloting a large hunk of metal at high speeds. Then I moved to Los Angeles.

Friends are getting hitched in Portland this weekend and (the bug having been planted) I’m roadtripping north. As we’re in the twilight of the happy motoring culture, I’ll seize the opportunity to taste the freedom of the road while its still within reach. A bit of coffee tourism will inevtiably occur and I’ll attempt to post some reports.

Tony, I’m in Seattle this Thurs - Saturday - if you’re anywhere near there, give me a shout - I sent you my cell number via flickr. Enjoy the roadtrip!

I tried to go my life w/out a car, too. Didn’t quite work out :/… now I’m driving all over the place like a mad(der)man. Luv it.

Tony, I will be leaving on a road trip down to northern California on wednesday morning.
However, if you are in seattle on monday night, we have started our Italian Picnic again and you should drop by.

Tony, I’m so sorry to hear about Intelli! Insha’allah you’ll find something great shortly. Heck, I’d love to see you in Athens.

I held out on the car-beast only until 21; at that age it felt like a big deal to have held out so long. If you find yourself de-petroleumized again, don’t let the license lapse! It’s a pain to get it anew.

You too, huh? I grew up on Queen Anne Hill and if it makes you feel any better, I was 22 when I got my first license. No shame in saving a dime and exploiting a good mass transit system!

Highway 1 is amazing. Straight on up!

Hang in there Big Dog, you’re a good egg.
