NYC is a Grumpy place.

The crew at Cafe Grumpy had a soft opening today for their new Chelsea store - a small shop that is going to have a big impact on the nascent New York coffee scene. They’ve already played host to pre-opening events with coffee luminaries Andrew Barnett from Ecco Caffe and Peter Giuliano of North Carolina’s Counter Culture. To my friends in the city who have complained that its too difficult to visit Grumpy in Greenpoint, I urge you to move your butt over to Chelsea before the word gets out and the line is around the block. Here is a map.

Congratulations and best wishes to Chris, Caroline, Daniel, Sam and the whole crew. Its many small battles getting a shop open as Kyle and I can attest (but more on that later).

Glad to know about Counter Culture — my folks are in Raleigh, and I go home periodically. It’s good to know that there’s high-quality coffee in the area.
