Speak & Spell

I went to the opening last night of an intruiging little show of circuit bent instruments[?] at the OlivoDoce gallery in Capitol Hill. I felt a bit out of place without a PBR in hand, but stayed long enough to snap some photos.

Justin Gerardy twiddles the knobs.

Artist/tinkerer Justin Gerardy builds his music/noise devices out of old Texas Instruments Speak & Spells. For this show he gave over a bunch of them to some excellent local artists like Toshi Asai, Tra Selhtrow, and America’s greatest living artist Brian Sendelbach. Justin is a swell guy and this is a neat show. You can see more of the work on his website.
